What is an HRMS?

Also known as: Human Resource Management System.

An HRMS, a Human Resource Management System, is HR software that covers the core employee record and the wider set of modules built around it, from attendance and performance to recruitment and payroll preparation.

Where an HRIS names the core record, HRMS usually names the fuller suite: the record plus the functional modules a team runs on top of it. The distinction is a matter of convention rather than a hard technical line, and vendors use the words differently.

What matters more than the label is how the suite is packaged. Some vendors sell the core cheaply and charge for each module; others include the whole set. The thing to compare is the all-in cost of what you will actually use at your real headcount.

Capstan is the complete HR platform, free for teams up to twenty people.
